OVER 30 YEARS OF RELIEF AND DEVELOPMENT

Fida is a Finnish International Development Agency and one of the biggest and most experienced non-governmental development organisations in Finland. Fida’s development cooperation activities together with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland started in 1974 and nowadays Fida carries out almost 100 development cooperation, humanitarian assistance and child sponsorship programs in about 30 countries. Fida is a partnership organisation in development of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and has Framework Partnership Agreement with the the European Union Directorate-General for Humanitarian Aid (ECHO).

Our goal is to encourage and inspire the communities in the developing countries to improve their life-management on their own. Encouraging and inspiring is done by participatory training and small-scale literacy, water etc. programmes. The goal is that in every community there are model families, who are a healthy influence to the entire community. A sponsorship child is an important member of his or her community. By following the life of an individual child we are able to see the change our programme is promoting. The support given to the child benefits the entire community.
