At the moment Fida has humanitarian aid projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia and Nepal as well as in Jordania relating to Syrian refugees.
The humanitarian mandate of Fida International means that Fida will respond to emergency situations where it can save lives effectively. Therefore, Fida is able to respond where the strategically located partners have access, competence and willingness to respond.
Fida has expertise in food security, Psycho Social Support (PSS), shelter, Non-Food Items (NFI), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), and advocacy. Fida's humanitarian aid projects aim at sustainable development and continuity by emphasising e.g. DRR and LRRD (linking relief, rehabilitation and development) principles in all humanitarian aid projects.
Fida also has a Framework Partnership Agreement with European Commission's Humanitarian Office (ECHO).
Humanitarian Aid Programmes
Fida's humanitarian projects have focused on Eastern and Central Africa for over 20 years. The civil wars have caused many so called "forgotten crises" there as well as in Sri Lanka where we worked for a long time. Fida has also delivered aid to many other disaster areas, like the earthquake hit Haiti and to the flood struck Pakistan.
